About Peoria Honor Flight

Peoria Honor Flight is part of the national Honor Flight Network, a nonprofit dedicated to flying America's veterans — particularly World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans — to Washington, D.C. at no cost to them. There, they visit the memorials erected in their honor: the World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and more.

For many veterans, the trip is their first time seeing these landmarks in person. For some, it's the recognition they never received when they came home. Peoria Honor Flight has made that experience possible for hundreds of veterans from central Illinois, and the work continues through community fundraisers exactly like this one.

About the Marine Corps League

Founded in 1923 and chartered by Congress in 1947, the Marine Corps League is one of the oldest and most established veteran service organizations in the country. Its members include active duty Marines, reservists, Fleet Marine Force Navy Corpsmen, and honorably discharged veterans who carry on the traditions of the Corps in their communities.

The Peoria Leathernecks chapter — Det. 081 — carries that mission forward in central Illinois through events, service projects, and advocacy on behalf of veterans and their families. The annual golf outing is one of their signature community fundraisers, and the support it generates goes directly toward getting veterans to Washington.
